In this season of Advent:
Where is our hoped for delivery?
Will God keep His promises?
Has this year led you to lean on God? To look for the Holy Spirit at work? Do you hurt with the suffering? Do you long for the community of Jesus?
Can we listen to the absence of the year and ask God what will fill our needs?
Regarding Mary and our understanding of the Christmas story:
What if God chose Mary because she was passionate about justice?
What does it stir in you when you consider that Mary could have been chosen because she would raise Jesus to be compassionate and to stand with the poor?
What does it stir in you when you consider that Mary may have been uniquely able to understand Jesus’s message and his insistence on being with the people her culture rejected and oppressed?
